Firstly, before I get going on this blog, I wanted to say congrats to Clive for winning the blog award, You go Clive! And secondly, thanks for all the book recommendations, please feel free to keep them coming, I do believe that one can never have enough books to read, it just takes some time to get through them.
So, I watched 'Twilight' yesterday evening.
After many people telling me how good the books were, and after reading Clive's blog about him watching it, I thought, hell, why not give it a shot.( I am def more the 'rom com' or 'oddball' movie type, or give me the 'Life' series any day) So, I did. And I have to say, I wasn't that impressed with it. I found it to be rather long winded, very teenage anxsty with the female main character irritating me from about the first 5 minutes of the movie. To be honest, I cannot offhandedly remember her name, though I do remember the male , Edward Cullen. And yes, he is fairly good looking for a vampire, all chisseled and moody, with that quiff of hair doing its very own thing. But I didnt enjoy the movie, it does make me wonder if the writing of the books are any better. Considering that I have various recommendations from friends who have enjoyed them, I fear I may have to read one for myself to see. Il let you know what I think once I get around to it.
I am still reading 'The glass books of the dream eaters' which I have barely managed to put down, and has been the culprit of many a late night these past few days, but not quite finished yet...
To get back to vampires, I prefered 'Buffy' to 'Twilight'. Now Spike, was sexy. With that blonde hair and all that sexual tension between him and Buffy. He was torn between his good and evil side, so much more serious. Buffy, is also gorgeous, def more so than the girl whose name I cant remember. But maybe it was the fact that Buffy kicked some serious ass and didn't have that whole 'I will love you forever' thing. But then, maybe I am just jaded.
The romantic notion of forever loving, give me eternal life thing just doesnt sit with me. Too shmaltzy. I guess at that age, thats what it is though, shmaltzy, eternal and the love with the entire being. Maybe they would stay together forever then, if they are stuck in that teenage frame of mind, instead of the growing up process, where one does become wizened to the foibles of human nature. But, again I say, maybe I am just jaded.
And on that note, I end off, I need to get myself primped and preened, as we have a puppet show to attend later this morning..

Hehehe... I wouldn't expect you to like the movie - and it's probably our age - I'll always be a bit of a teenage romantic at heart...
The books are better, I believe... good escapist schlop... but if you're wanting to be challenged - then go for something more meaty - like The Reluctant Fundamentalist...
And, yes, Belle is boring...
Clive, im glad to say, you still make me laugh!
And yes, will give The Reluctant Fundamentalist a go. ta
