Ok, so I thought this was a bit of an odd one. I mean, of course, I am smarter than anyone else.. hehe, so not!
I try not to dictate, but I have to admit that maybe I do. I'm sure if you had to ask the man I live with and my daughter that they might even say worse than that. But I do have certain 'rules' if I can even use such an awful word, maybe, 'better ways of living' would be a much nicer phrase to use, and I can get annoyed if they are not followed most of the time. Doesn't have to be all the time, one does need to enjoy life after all, but if there's one thing I can't stand is computers in the bed room and crumbs in the bed. I do dictate on that.
As for child rearing, motherhood yes, I dictate, when my child can and can't eat sweets/biscuits/chocolate ice-cream - after she has had some proper food and bed time is dictated so I guess yes, I may be smarter in some aspects, but am I really??heehee.. (I do try to offer choices as to mere dictation)

Hi there,
I had to laugh because as I read this I am in bed with the computer!
But yes, I think there lurks a dictator in all of us, especially as a mom - later, as your kids get older, its difficult to let that hat go... this is what I have realised.
Crap - I am REALLY bad at this. I realised it the other day and am trying to work on it. I think I would find me annoying to live with. Poor Mr OL.....
There is a time and a place to be a dictator. I like to think of my household as a benevolent dictatorship when it comes to the children. But, in my professional world, start micro-manageing me and I get my back up in a grand way!! Maybe I am not as clever as I think I am, but most people I deal with are not either. Ha!! so there.
