The Cobra

(Otherwise known as a Pilate's exercise).
As most of you know, I am training to be a Pilate's teacher. I am currently in the midst of my second module which finishes this Sunday and then am writing my theory exam on Tuesday next week. (EEk). So far, it is going well and I am enjoying it immensely.

The great thing about it, is that it is so beneficial for my massage as the two work so nicely in conjunction with each other. Explaining the movements of the body really does go towards explaining why there is muscle tension and imbalances within the body. It all relates to stability and correct alignment. If those are out, there can be a host of problems. Which massage does definitely help to ease but with the correct exercises being done, together with massage, things can begin to become unbalanced. I find it soo fascinating!

What I also need to do, is to practise teaching exercises in order to be eventually be able to teach in a class environment, so while on holiday at my sister, I roped her in to do a class... so, in the spirit of that, I have posted a couple of pics of us, doing our 'thang'. But I have to say after looking at the pictures, I can see where we are doing things incorrectly..! Guess that's why I am still learning.

Me doing 'thread the needle' which is a killer for the triceps!

Shayne doing the 'cobra' which is great for stretching out the back.

P.S. I have been tagged over at The Book Club Blog...
