Today, I was in my very own fairy tale.
I had organised a baby sitter for just over an hour as I had a massage client this morning for 10.30am at the practise. I duly left at 10.00am giving me enough time to get there and set up. As I was driving, I noticed that my car wasn't driving 'properly', and in girl terms that is exactly what I mean, in boy terms, they would probably have a more technical term for it (which we will come to shortly).
Driving along, rain coming down, my car feeling funny and I was almost there, when this lady who had been driving behind me, comes alongside my car and mouths something at me. I managed to understand her on the second go, 'Your tyre is flat' she mouthed.
Yes, I had been driving with a flat tyre(in boy terms, remember in my terms it just wasn't driving properly). Luckily I had made to it where I needed to be, on time no less, but now with a flat tyre.
Now, I am sure that I am and would have been quite capable of handling this situation, but I phoned The Man nonetheless and proceeded to tell him about said flat tyre. I did think at the time (after looking at the tyre.. it was smoking by the time I had stopped) that it probably wouldn't have been fixed with a pump full of air, it was well and truly punctured. Hence, my reason for calling.
Well, I was rescued in due course. I gave my massage, The Man arrived with a new tyre and the various bits and pieces which come with changing a car tyre and then began the task of getting the wheel off the car. This took some time due to the particular spanner needing to be at a particular angle in order to get the slightly worn nuts off, but succeed he did. Tried the new tyre, was not the correct size and so off we went to buy a tyre. This slight detour did not take too long, in fact, it was probably the quickest part of the adventure (apart from putting the new tyre on, which was also pretty painless) and we were served by some very helpful men (all in the time it took to eat a Tempo chocolate bar).
So, I had been rescued. I had been a damsel in distress in the rain, but my rescuer came and saved the day. Bought me a new tyre and then followed me home (this whole little detour meant it took me an extra hour and a half to get back home, but hey, luckily baba had slept the entire time I was out).
Aah moment please..!
So, anyone else have a fairy tale day?
