For the love of books

I am having an early night tonight.

Instead of sitting in front of the computer, searching gumtree (for possible massage locations), kalahari (for new books to come down in price), loot (to compare prices of books), facebook (to see whose done what and said what) I am going to climb into bed and read.

I haven't done that for a while because none of the books I have are enticing enough to keep me engrossed for longer than 5 minutes, which is sad, as I have at least 3 books awaiting my perusal on my bedside table. I also have a list of new books which I would like to read.. the first one on that list being the new Penny Vincenzi 'The Best of Times'. Yes, I am officially a Penny Vincenzi fan. I discovered her books while caring in the UK and I have read all of them. I love them!

Anyhoo, I went past the Exclusive Books sale yesterday where I found a whopping bargain of a book for Bean. A board book of dinosaurs for a mere five raands, very pleased with that purchase, just the exercise of twisting my tongue into the strange sounding names is enough to give me pleasure, I cant wait to hear how Bean says them!

I also managed to find myself a book. A non fiction, would you believe? Called 'The Revenge of Gaia' which I have been wanting to read for a while now. Its all about Earth and how it is a living thing and the relationship between us (humans) and life on earth. Sounds quite intense but I started the introduction last night and I am looking forward to reading his views. Will keep you posted as to the ideas that he represents in the book.

My latest purchase which wasn't quite as inexpensive as the sale books at Exclusives, is 'Captivating'. I popped into CUM books this morning while on my search for a sewing machine (I had managed to find myself at N1 City Mall, after having found my way to Brackenfell searching for the elusive sewing machine -all out of stock- and someone had suggested House and Home in N1 City). No sewing machines to be found at House and Home either but on my way to the exit, departure imminent, I saw the 'Love Languages' book on display so went in to have a squizz through it (must read it sometime!) and then had a quick peak at what else was on offer. Prime reason was, it was suggested that I read a daily devotional book. I unfortunately didn't get that far as my journey through the bookshelves was interrupted by reading the back of this book 'Captivating Unveiling the Woman's Soul'.

I read the introduction this afternoon while Bean was at the park and I do think it will prove to be an interesting read.

Weird that I now have two non fiction books on my bedside table (and no Penny Vincenzi) do you think the Universe is trying to tell me something?

I'd love to borrow when you're done?

Still have hardly read my new Jane Green or The Book Thief - being on holiday is far too busy!

LOL! It is funny how sometimes books just "jump" into your hands when you walk past a shelf.
